As part of the 10th anniversary of the “White Card”, marked by the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth (IPDJ), the Portuguese Automobile and Karting Federation (FPAK), in partnership with the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), organised the “Ethics and Fair Play” forum, guided by responsibility and citizenship.

The “Ethics and Fair Play” forum brought together Carlos Barbosa (President of the ACP), Pedro Dias (Secretary of State for Sport), Ni Amorim (President of the FPAK) and Carlos Moita (Vice-President of Matosinhos Municipality), who explored the topic in a meaningful way, focusing on the promotion of ethics and values in sport, namely respect, integrity, inclusion and solidarity, among others.

Driven by clear principles, guidelines and specific characteristics such as success, safety and collaboration, the initiative highlighted the importance of fair play both on and off the field of competition. Carlos Barbosa underlined the importance of “a preventive approach, based on education and people’s behaviour”, adding that the Vodafone Rally de Portugal “is a celebration for the whole country”. According to the President of the ACP’s Organising Committee, the Rally of Portugal has the mission of bringing together all regions of the country, “uniting inland and coastal areas so that the celebration can be experienced by all”.

Ni Amorim noted that “motorsport is often seen only through its competitive dimension”, emphasising that the Vodafone Rally de Portugal “is a good example of success, particularly due to its national and international visibility in promoting the values of sport”.

For the Secretary of State, Pedro Dias, the “White Card works as an effective tool for preventing risky behaviour and violence, in which public and federative institutions play a crucial role in its success”.

In his role as councillor for mobility at the Municipality of Matosinhos, Carlos Moita highlighted the role of public institutions in “raising awareness among associations, clubs, schools and others, in order to promote the White Card as a way of recognising and valuing positive attitudes”.
