The sixth stage of the event saw a resurgence for the Hyundai Motorsport team. This time, it was Thierry Neuville who took the stage win, using his soft tyres to great advantage on the 20Km stage which transpired to be wetter, and hence slippier, than many anticipated. As it transpired, it was a stage that suited cars on soft tyres, with Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen claiming the second spot, just 0.5 seconds behind Neuville.Third fastest was Ott Tanak with double stage winner Dani Sordo fourth fastest, despite feeling he had suffered a tyre problem at the front of the car. Event leader Sebastien Ogier, running on four hard tyres, was fifth fastest, losing 3.1 seconds to Neuville but crucially, just 2.6s from Hirvonen and maintaining the overall lead with a single stage left to go on the second day of the event.
