Vodafone Rally de Portugal passion and sustainability

More than just a major sport event, the Rally is also a platform for change
09 maio 2026

At the Vodafone Rally de Portugal, the excitement of the special stages, the passion of the fans and the performance of the drivers go hand in hand with an increasingly strong commitment: environmental sustainability.

More than simply a major sporting event, the Rally is also a platform for change — and that is why, year after year, we continue to strengthen our role as an example of environmental best practice within the world of motorsport.

FIA Accreditation: a mark of environmental excellence

Since 2017, the Vodafone Rally de Portugal has held the FIA 3-Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest level of environmental recognition awarded by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. This certification distinguishes events that consistently apply sustainable policies in their organisation, resource management and environmental impact.

But our commitment goes beyond certification.

Stages recognised as EcoEvents

 In 2026, six rally stages received official EcoEvent status:

  • Águeda
  • Amarante
  • Arganil
  • Cabeceiras de Basto
  • Góis
  • Fafe

This distinction results from a partnership with ERSUC, Resinorte and the municipalities involved, recognising the implementation of exemplary environmental practices throughout these stages.

Being recognised as an EcoEvent means promoting concrete actions such as:

  • Providing containers for selective waste separation;
  • Reducing litter left in spectator areas;
  • Raising public awareness towards more responsible behaviour;
  • Actively involving municipalities and local communities in the environmental management of the event.

Portuguese Environment Agency supports Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2026

The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) is a strategic partner of Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2026, serving as a key pillar in ensuring environmental compliance and alignment with Portugal’s public environmental policies.

As part of the network of public entities supervising the event, the APA works alongside municipalities and environmental authorities, contributing to the institutional credibility and environmental rigour of the rally.

Sustainability is a team effort

The sustainability of an event with the scale and complexity of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal depends on everyone:

  • And, of course, the public, whose behaviour on the ground makes all the difference.

That is why we leave this appeal:

Separate your waste. Take away what you brought with you. Respect the natural environment that welcomes you.

Every action counts in ensuring the rally remains a spectacular event… without leaving a trace.
