The participation of classic sports cars at the super special stages of the Vodafone Rally of Portugal is already a given. This year, there is extra excitement with the cars present at Figueira da Foz on Thursday afternoon and Lousada on Saturday.
In Figueira da Foz, a walking reconnaissance is scheduled between 1:30pm and 2:45pm, with the parade of vehicles expected at 3pm. The highly-anticipated super special stage for classic sports cars will take place between 3:15pm and 4:45pm.
For Lousada, the procedure is very similar to that of Praia da Claridade, although the foot reconnaissance will take place between 2:30pm and 2:30pm. The super special stage for classic sports cars will take place between 6:00pm and 6:10pm, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 6:12pm.
The entry list is headed by Edgar Botelho Moniz and Ivo Machado in a 1962 Volvo PV-544, followed by António Pinto dos Santos “Pintanas” and Tomás Pinto dos Santos in a 1969 Morris Mini Cooper S and Paulo Spínola and Cristiana Spínola, with the number three on the doors of their 1972 Fiat 127.
Other cars of interest include the 1980 Fiat 131 Abarth driven by José Grosso from Leiria, navigated by Filipe Fernandes, as well as the 1975 Ford Escort RS of Gonçalo Figueiroa and Francisco Figueiroa, and the 1985 Audi Quattro S1 crewed by Janis Sala and Uldis Fjodorovs.
Marco Martins and Joaquim Capelo are present in a 1987 Ford Sierra RS and the legendary 1995 Nissan Micra is driven by Miguel Paião from Ilhavo, who will have Madalena Félix in the passenger seat of the Japanese car.
