The Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) will carry out Operation “WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2026” between 6 and 10 May, with the aim of ensuring safety throughout the competition. The operation includes access control, directing spectators to authorised areas and closing roads to traffic along the special stages.
Part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar, the Vodafone Rally de Portugal covers the Central and Northern regions of the country, spanning several districts and mobilising a multidisciplinary operational unit from the GNR, prepared to handle the large crowds and the complexity of the event.
The operation will be carried out in two phases. The first is dedicated to implementing preparatory measures, including the closure of road sections to traffic, access control and the deployment of security personnel. The second phase coincides with the running of the event, involving the restriction of unauthorised vehicles, ensuring the public remains in designated areas and preventing access to restricted zones.
The GNR urges strict compliance with the authorities’ instructions and safety regulations and recommends that all spectators remain exclusively in the areas designated for the event; it is also noted that all fans should avoid any interference with the running of the race and contribute to a safe event for everyone.
