Stage Flash SS11 Vieira do Minho 2

01 junho 2019

Car 1. OGIER/INGRASSIA

“It’s a try (two spare wheels). We will see what happens at the end.”

Car 8. TÄNAK/JARVEOJA

“All good. All nice now. We had a clean run now.”

Car 11. NEUVILLE/GILSOUL

“It should be okay. This is the most slippery stage. I had a good stage. I was kicked out of

the line a couple of times by the big rocks. But it was a good stage.”

Car 5. MEEKE/MARSHALL

“I think Ogier took an option with mediums. I was expecting him to be quick in there. I had

a good stage.”

Car 33. EVANS/MARTIN

“It is just impossible. The ruts are so narrow. You cannot turn it in. It’s so polluted (loose

gravel and rocks).”

Car 19. LOEB/ELENA

“It was okay for us. No problems in the stage. A clean run and no mistakes.”

Car 4. LAPPI/FERM

“Very rough, very rough. So much (many) hits to the tyres. I was not expecting this.”

Car 10. LATVALA/ANTTILA

“I think I had a small impact on the rocks. The front felt a bit soft. I took it easy so that I did

not damage anything.” A small pool of oil reported to be on the track after the Toyota left

the stage finish.

Car 3. SUNINEN/SALMINEN

“It would be better if we had been a bit faster. Hopefully we can find some more pace.”

Car 6. SORDO/DEL BARRIO

“I was concentrating and trying to push. I was surprised with the time of Ogier. It was fast.

I was trying.”

Car 44. GREENSMITH/EDMONDSON

“It was not how I expected it. You could carry a lot of speed into the ruts. Trying to find out

how much speed you could carry in was the task. I enjoyed that.”

Car 24. KOPECKÝ/DRESLER

The bonnet was not secure and flew up above the windscreen during the stage. “I don’t

know. We did not touch it (bonnet). Nearly after the start. It is crazy…”

Car 43. VEIBY/ANDERSSON

Confirmed that he retired from the rally after a fire in his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. The

Norwegian had been leading WRC 2 until SS10.
