SS13 – Ogier continues charge

05 abril 2014

Despite the best efforts of Jari-Matti Latvala who held the fastest stage time briefly, it was Volkswagen Motorsport teammate Sebastien Ogier who cleared the stage in the shortest time, further building on his overall lead of the rally and forcing Latvala to settle for second fastest over the stage.

Dani Sordo took third fastest stage time in his Hyundai i20 WRC despite admitting that his choice of tyres was very much the wrong one.

Mikko Hirvonen continued his push but with tyres in poor condition he stood little chance of catching the Volkswagen driving Frenchman. At the close of the stage, Hirvonen explained that his focus was now on keeping hold of second position rather than making any attempt to catch up. Ogier finishes the day 38.1 seconds ahead.

It was all change in WRC2 with Jari Ketomaa losing his lead of the class to Nasser Al-Attiyah. Frustrated by the pace of his rival’s car, Ketomaa promised to continue to fight throughout the final day of stages.
