Stage Flash - SS13 Malhão 2

05 abril 2014

Car 1, Ogier/Ingrassia
“We had a good day, good management of the tyres. I’m happy with my day. In the end I didn’t push so hard, good management of tyres, that’s really the key.”

Car 2, Latvala/Anttila
“It was a slow morning to be fair, but then it started to go well. But we’ve had a puncture, which cost time, then we’re on hard tyres which aren’t good. We have some soft tyres for tomorrow which is important.”

Car 4, Ostberg/Anderson
“Happy with the day, it’s gone well. I’m looking to hold on tomorrow, I have a new set of soft tyres for then.”

Car 5, Hirvonen/Lehtinen
“I was a bit scared we were going to have a puncture. It’s a bit slippery in places. I’m going to try to hold onto my second place and save myself for the power stage tomorrow to see what I can do.”

Car 6, Evans/Barritt
“It was surprising how much it wears. Never the less I think we made the right call. If I was to choose the road position on a gravel rally I’d choose first. The team have been really supportive.”

Car 8, Hänninen/Tuominen
“In the car everything was working. It has been quite a demanding rally. We’ll see tomorrow, there’s still some tricky stages and challenges to do.”

Car 9, Mikkelsen/ Markkula
“It’s going in the right direction. Not very happy ith the tyre choice this afternoon, but okay. We’re progressing. If you make the right choices and they work, it’s perfect, but if not, that’s it.”

Car 12, Al Qassimi/ Patterson
“It’s very dusty, there were some splashes with water and mud. But you know what, I enjoyed the stage.”

Car 16, Solberg/Minor
“Sometimes I have two wheel drive in some corners, sometimes not because the drive locks up. Feels like the handbrake is on. I just tried to go through, go flat out.”

Car 20, Sordo/Marti
“The car was really good, we need to work a little bit with traction. But everything is good. I’m not sure if the soft tyres are the right choice, I’m not sure what they look like but they must be terrible.”

Car 21, Prokop/Tománek
“It’s not bad, so the last stage was nice. We tried to improve because the previous stage was bad for our tyres. This stage was nice and dry so we pushed. I’m really, really crazy driving in the corners, it’s like back to school!”

Car 35, Ketomaa/Lindstrom
“I was doing my best, but for some reason I just can’t go faster. I’m going maximum. I don’t think it’s the tyres. I’m going as fast as I can but Nasser is going faster. It’s not all over yet.”

Car 36, Barrable/Loudon
“Happy enough, we broke the rear anti-roll bar in the long stage, the car was really loose and really tail happy’. Tomorrow’s going to be a tricky, tricky day.”

Car 38, Ahlin/Abrahamsen
“The morning was good, we were feeling and the time was really good. But we hit a rock at one point and got a puncture because of a mistake in the notes. But I’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past, too.”

Car 39, Gorban/Korsia
“It’s been a difficult day, difficult conditions, some times very slow. We changed the tyres, now there’s everything to gain.”

Car 40, Al-Attiyah/Bernacchini
“I’m quite happy. We changed the setup a little bit in the afternoon and went onto hard tyres. Some parts were very slippery, but it was a good choice, a good day for us. It will be a big battle tomorrow.”

Car 42, Tidemand/Floene
“It will be a close battle yeah, we’ll just keep going, there’s nothing more to do. We always learn something.”

Car 43, Sousa/Magalhães
“I think that I have to be very happy, it’s the first even and on day two I’m almost winning some stages, so I have to be happy. This is rallying. Hopefully I’ll be fighting for the championship.”

Car 44, Maurin/Klinger
“It’s a good day. We didn’t take so much risk so we made a good time, so I’m here, that’s most important for tomorrow. So pleased to be here, it’s beautiful.”

Car 45, Aksa/Arena
“It’s quite okay. We had the wrong tyre choice on the first loop. This afternoon was quite good, I think the time is improving at least. I’ve moved closer to the steering wheel, being closer is better for my back and to drive.”

Car 47, Al-Kuwari/ Duffy
“It was okay, it was the most difficult day here in Portugal. Difficult stages, different conditions on every stage and every corner seems different. I’m still learning how to change the setup, it’s not easy.”

Car 48, Kangur/Ots
“We took the wrong junction, it just cost us too much time. There’s nothing wrong with the car, it feels good, we’ll have to drive well tomorrow.”

Car 49, McCormack/ Moynhan
“The few old habits I had to get rid of, coming from a Mk2 Escort, crowd pleasing being one of them! This car’s wonderful though, brilliant to drive. I underestimated ho difficult it as before I came here, but I’m starting to get into it now and get used to it.”

Car 70, Kruuda/Jäveoja
“I didn’t manage to climb back to third, but it’s been a good day. Tomorrow is going to be fun. When I get the right rhythm it’s great, seen some good speed today.”
