SS10 – Tanak crashes out and puts stage under yellow flag

Drama unfolded during the final stage of the morning with Ott Tanak crashing out in his Fiesta RS WRC blocking the stage and the progress of the other drivers in the process. 

Other drivers confirmed that the crash had taken place in roughly the same area as Jari-Matti Latvala’s massive crash in 2009. This time though, the car is reported to have to come to rest on the stage, resulting in the drivers behind being forced to stop until the stricken Fiesta could be moved. 

Mikko Hirvonen, the first car behind Tanak, completed the stage under yellow flag caution along with WRC2 driver Jari Ketomaa. However, Nasser Al-Attiyah continued to power through the stage, overtaking Hirvonen and Ketomaa, saying on completion of the stage that he saw no yellow flags.
