SS8/9 - End of day honours for Neuville

The double running of the downtown Oporto street stage, closing the second day of competition on this year’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal, saw a pair of wins for Thierry Neuville.

The Belgian driver had increased his pace throughout the day following a slow start and kept his best performances for last – he went through both stages fastest, in front of an estimated 100,000 rally fans in the city.

Second and third-fastest were Sebastien Ogier and Andreas Mikkelsen on the first of the two runs and reversed on the second.

The street stage proved to be a huge success, running through the centre of Oporto and passing both the town hall, city hospital and the cathedral.
