Stage Flash SS20 Fafe 2 (Power Stage)

02 junho 2019

Car 1. OGIER/INGRASSIA

“Third place is news because I wasn’t planning on opening the road in Sardinia.”

Car 8. TÄNAK/JARVEOJA

“Before the rally it was looking tough. It was not looking too bad on Friday and yesterday lunchtime it was looking quite bad. This is one of my hardest victories ever. We had a big fight and some small issues. We managed to win it and I am very happy. We had to hit the brakes at the end to make sure that Seb is leading the championship…!”

Car 11. NEUVILLE/GILSOUL

“I put a hard tyre on the car for this stage. We were waiting too long on the start line. I am still happy to be here in second place. Coming here after a huge crash in Chile, it is nice.”

Car 5. MEEKE/MARSHALL

Spun, crashed and blocked the road in the Power Stage. There was a delay while the car was removed by a recovery vehicle.

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Tommi Mäkinen said:

“Of course this is disappointing for everybody. We know before the last stage that he was mentally disturbed. Maybe that affected his concentration. That is rallying.”

Car 33. EVANS/MARTIN

“The start was okay. We found good pace and then a small issue put a spin on the weekend and four minutes down (accelerator connector) it is difficult to do much.”

Car 19. LOEB/ELENA

Slid sideways, left the road and damaged the rear suspension. He limped through the stage and dropped over 1min 10sec. “We brake a bit late in a tarmac corner and I went outside (off the road) and hit something.”

Car 10. LATVALA/ANTTILA

His run was aborted after Gus Greensmith’s accident at the Fafe jump. He will receive a nominal time from rally officials. “It was been a tough weekend. We know the car is very fast and we have good speed. I know the good people working for the rally will give me a good time. When a red flag comes I cannot fight for the Power Stage, but I should get the eighth place.”

Car 3. SUNINEN/SALMINEN

“The pace was good on Friday and quite a good result for us. Maybe some points as well from the Power Stage. Some small issues but that is rallying.”

Car 6. SORDO/DEL BARRIO

“It was nice. I tried to push and to enjoy. It was difficult to do a really good time because the stage is cleaning all the time. It was an incredible atmosphere in there.”

Car 44. GREENSMITH/EDMONDSON

Spun violently into the banking on the right-hand side of the track after a heavy impact on the famous Fafe jump and took a wheel off the Ford Fiesta.

Car 21. ØSTBERG/ERIKSEN

Fastest on all five stages in WRC 2 Pro this morning. “I had to be a bit careful. I had some bad noise in my front suspension after my first pass through here. We are through now. I am happy with the way we have improved this weekend. We have some challenges to solve. We need new rims.”

Car 23. ROVANPERÄ/HALTTUNEN

“Big thanks to the team. Everything was working well working hard to get the car done. We have done an excellent job. I dedicate this win to our engineer who is sick and has gone home.”

Car 24. KOPECKÝ/DRESLER

“It means a lot to the team. The team did a great job. The rally was very tricky and the second loop yesterday was very rough. We look forward now to Sardinia.”
